Birthday high tea

Last week my mum took my sister and I for high tea at Rochelle Adonis Cakes and Confections for our birthdays.

The table setting was very English chic with crystal vases holding pink toned roses, crystal jugs for decoration and individually designed teacups. We sat on a long table with another two parties.

High Tea

High tea started with an order of tea – me opting for the signature Rochelle Adonis tea. The high tea menu was very modern with savoury served separate to sweet.

Tea

First up was one cucumber finger sandwich each. It was very flavoursome and we would have been more than happy with another two or three each.

Cucumber fingers

The savoury spread came next with a delicious potato, leak and chive soup, mushroom crostini, crumbed mac and cheese and chicken par fee with pumpkin spread. We all thoroughly enjoyed getting through this course.

Savoury

Lemon iced sorbet was served to clean the palate for dessert.

When the dessert spread came out I wasn’t sure where to look first! There was mango sundae, rice pudding, a peanut butter and jelly cake/biscuit and a custard and rhubarb tart.

Dessert

I started with the mango sundae and got through it all. I tried a spoonful of rice pudding and left the rest behind and had a couple of nibbles of the peanut butter cake but couldn’t finish it as it was too sweet for me. I ended with the tart, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

It was a lovely mother daughter outing and a great way to celebrate our birthdays, but upon leaving we all conferred that we prefer traditional high tea and reminisced about our time at The Ritz in London.
