Birthday weekend

Birthdays are always better when they fall on a weekend. It means it’s not just a birthday, it’s a whole weekend affair!

My festivities started on Thursday at work with a lovely gift and mudcake from my colleagues.

I had a day off on Friday and started the day with breakfast with my mum, sister, nephew and a friend to celebrate my sister and my birthdays (hers is a day before mine). We enjoyed breakfast at Coode Street Cafe. I had the sweet corn pikelets with smashed avocado. It was a little underwhelming but the setting was nice.

Then it was a late lunch with a girlfriend at the Brisbane Hotel. We shared hummus and turkish bread, olives and chips with aioli and enjoyed a couple of glasses of red wine each. The Brisbane has the best chips (French fries)!

I then met my best friend Amy for evening cocktails at Five Bar up Beaufort Street (my favourite Perth strip). The Lychee Snowcone served frozen was so amazing, I had to have two! The lovely flowers were from Amy.

On Saturday (my actual birthday) I started the day with a walk. I actually really love walking with my sister, friends, cousins, or to music so it didn’t bother me to take time out of my birthday to exercise.

I had lunch with my godmother at my local Coffee Club. We both enjoyed the chicken and avocado hazelnut salad.

Saturday afternoons are usually spent at my grandparents taking my nonna (grandma) out for coffee, or a milkshake as she prefers, with my mum, sister and aunties. So today we went to dessert delight cafe Sherbert Bake Shop in Maylands. The bake shop had something for everyone. I enjoyed a red velvet cupcake as cream cheese icing is my favourite.

My birthday night was spent with my best friend Ivanna, her partner and some other friends. We went to Late Night Valentine cocktail bar back on Beaufort Street for cocktails and a bit of dancing.

As Sunday was not my actual birthday I decided to spend most of the day in the kitchen cooking dinner for some of my family. My sister made the birthday cake for us, wasn’t it fabulous?!

It’s fair to say dry July started this week!

Next week I will be sharing my Siem Reap travel diary.
