Getting ready for 30
My 30th birthday is two days away (yikes!) and I’ve spent the past few weeks preparing for it.
I have been busy planning my birthday party at Malt Supper Club Friday night. I’m most looking forward to dancing the night away.
On Friday night my bestie stylist Ivanna took me shopping for an outfit. We had two hours to find and love an outfit. We went straight to a department store and tried on around 10 dresses falling in love with one from Australian brand Talulah. And of course it’s black.
I had my hair coloured and trimmed tonight in anticipation for Friday night.
So am I ready to turn 30? No. Have I accomplished what I wanted to by this age? No. I guess I did the career thing; got a degree, worked in the industry and in the past year I’ve had my third career change bringing another pay cut.
I moved to another country to live, even if it was only seven months. I am so happy I had the courage to move to London and was able to get a job in my career path at the time.
I haven’t done the whole marriage and kids thing yet but in hindsight it’s probably a good thing. I am young and selfish and there’s still so much travel I want to do. I’m happy with my travels so far – travelling to more than 30 countries in my 20s – but there is always more to see. I can’t wait to go back to Europe and America.
Getting older is inevitable and in two days time I will move in to the next decade. As scary as it seems I am looking forward to my 30s!
Next week I will share all my birthday festivities.
